RVing is a great way to get out on the open road with family and friends. It creates an opportunity to get together to make memories. A lot of these memories take place around the campsite. We asked for real recipes from real RVers to make your next campsite adventure one for the books.

Campfire Stew

Campfire stew is a great recipe for a large group of people. Everyone in the group brings what they want and adds something to the pot. Corn, green beans, carrots, beans or veggies of choice, tomatoes with hamburger, turkey burger or sausage. Add any combo of onions, beef broth, all dumped in a cast iron pot, season to taste and cook. Great for colder weather and sitting around the fire.

Hungry Man Breakfast

If you have a big appetite and are looking for an easy, hearty breakfast, try out this recipe. Just add hash browns, eggs, bacon, sausage and lots of shredded cheese in a cast iron Dutch oven. Cook and enjoy.

Potato Poppers

Take small red potatoes, wrap them with bacon, then wrap that in foil and place around the outer portion of the coals. Use a stick and roll them around every 6 to 7 minutes. The bacon shrinks and juices the potatoes nicely. Roast them twice on each side or until tender and remove from the heat and enjoy!

Cowboy Beans

  • 2 cans pinto beans
  • 1/2 pound bacon cut up
  • 1 cup black coffee
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/2 large onion chopped
  • Fry bacon, drain off all but 1 tbsp grease
  • Throw in chopped onions, cook about a minute
  • Add rest of ingredients, simmer about 30 minutes

You can add your favorite hot sauce to give it a little kick.

Best done in a cast iron skillet. Very tasty.

Campfire Nachos

Pull off a long piece of tin foil and curl the edges on all sides. This way the nachos will stay in place when they are placed on the grill. Add tortilla chips, beans, chili, peppers, and lots of cheese. You can also add any other nacho toppings you may want. Leave on the grill until the cheese is melted and toppings are warm. Enjoy.

Baked Apples

Take any type of apple you prefer and slice in half. Hollow out the center so there is no core, or seeds left. Place brown sugar and a slice of butter in each hollowed out core. Place the two sides back together and wrap in tin foil. Place in the coils and let the apple heat through.

Strawberry S'mores

Get ready to enjoy the newest campfire dessert. Take whole strawberries and dip them in marshmallow fluff. Then roast over the campfire just like a s'more.

Campfire Orange Brownies

  1. Cut off the tops of a few oranges and scoop out the inside with a spoon. Keep the orange tops for later use.
  2. Mix up instant brownie mix.
  3. Fill each orange up a little more than half way with the brownie mix.
  4. Place the orange tops back on top of the orange and wrap in aluminum foil.
  5. Set the oranges in the campfire coals for about 20 minutes. The brownie will bake right in the orange and is very moist with a hint of orange flavor.
